<p>This year’s annual President’s barbeque for TCNJ employees and retirees was a complete success. In two separate events, employees and retirees were recognized for their years of service to the College.</p>
<p>Two years ago, TCNJ President R. Barbara Gitenstein, in partnership with the Office of Human Resources, introduced an employee recognition program to honor employees and their dedication to the mission and core values of the College, by celebrating milestone years of service awards.</p>
<p>Those employees at the &#8220;specific&#8221; milestones of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service by the cut-off date, were recognized during the program.  Employees who have service years outside of the specific milestones years will be honored when s/he reaches the next milestone. For example, an employee who currently has 12 years of service will be honored at their 15 year milestone.</p>
<p>Recipients of the years of service award were also honored with TCNJ logo pins to commemorate their service to the college. Below, see pictures from the 2013 Annual President BBQ.</p>

Our goal is to have a diverse, inclusive, and healthy climate that promotes the well-being of the members of this community.</p>

<p>At the March 7, 2002 public meeting of the Board of Trustees, a resolution was passed creating Staff Representation on the Board. In accordance with that resolution, there are to be two Staff Representatives elected who serve staggered, two-year terms. The resolution also states that each appointee’s role will be to:</p>
<p>1.  Advise and comment on the staff’s involvement in implementing the mission of the College</p>
<p>2.  Participate in public Board meetings and in the committees to which they are assigned with full rights and responsibilities of discussion</p>
<p>3.  Refrain from calling on the Board for decisions concerning matters that are being deliberated through the college-wide governance structure</p>
<p>4.  Refrain from comment on any matter related to terms and condition of employment</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Eligibility requirements, as outlined by the Board of Trustees specify that staff shall:</p>
<p>5.  Be current, permanent non-faculty employees of the College</p>
<p>6.  Have at least ten months’ experience as employees of the College</p>
<p>7.  Serve staggered two-year terms</p>
<p>8.  Be elected without reference to committee assignment</p>
<p>9.  Serve a maximum of two terms</p>
<p>As the terms for these two positions are staggered, one position is currently available. This term will commence on September 1, 2013 and will end on August 31, 2015. The Staff Representative for 2012-2013 is Lynette Harris, Assistant Director of Career Services. In order to spread the responsibility to more than one department, all staff is eligible to run for this position except for staff in the Office of Career Services.</p>
<p>You may nominate yourself or an eligible colleague. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, May 3rd. Please note that nominees must be available between May 6 and May 16<sup>th</sup> to confirm their desire to become a candidate when contacted. To submit a nomination, please send an email to <a href="mailto:snell@tcnj.edu">snell@tcnj.edu</a> with the subject line “Staff Representative to the Board of Trustees”. In your email, indicate that you are making a nomination or that you are nominating yourself. Please also provide the following information for both yourself and your nominee:</p>
<p>·   Name<br />
·   Department of nominee<br />
·   Title<br />
·   Campus Phone<br />
<em id="__mceDel">·   Email address </em></p>
<p>If you are nominating yourself, please also include a brief statement (no more than 150 words) addressing your experience at the College and describing your interest in serving as a staff representative to the Board of Trustees. These statements will accompany the ballots when they are sent via email to those staff with email accessibility and in hard copy to all others by May 20, 2013. Ballots will need to be received by the Office of Human Resources by 4:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2013. Ballots will be counted on June 17, 2013, and an announcement of the results will follow. The cookbook has over 100 recipes authored by the many chefs and cosmopolitan food connoisseurs within our community. Be ready for the end of the year festivities by purchasing your copies now! We are located in the Administrative Services Building, room 101 between the hours of 8:30am &#8211; 4:30pm.
